Dr. Pottenger received both his medical degree and Master of Science in Physiology degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. From there he completed residencies in orthopedic surgery at the University of California and Loyola University, before beginning his own private practice, specializing in total joint replacement, arthroscopy and athletic injuries. Dr. Pottenger’s commitment to the field of orthopedics is evident from his active participation in the medical world, from publishing articles to teaching others and continuing his own education. Dr. Pottenger is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons, as well as a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and member of several other societies. As a former football quarterback in college, Dr. Pottenger sustained injuries and experienced a rehabilitation program through ligament surgery. His own experience, combined with an interest in physiology, helped inspire his career as an orthopedic surgeon. Dr. Pottenger is now an avid golfer and coaches his three sons in a variety of sports and activities. |
